UNFOLD: You Are Enough

by Maria Zaccarian, partnership manager UNFOLD

UNFOLD is more than a photography project; it’s a quiet invitation. A soft landing place for anyone who feels something inside them is waiting to be seen, released, or remembered.

In a world that often asks us to be perfect and performative, this experience offers something gentler: a space to simply be. No filters. No judgment. Just you: as you are.

Here, your body is not an object to fix, but a story worth telling. It is a landscape of memory, strength, change, and beauty.

Brought to life by Danny Van der Elst, UNFOLD is a journey for those moments when you feel disconnected from yourself. When you are caught between identities, recovering from something invisible, or slowly growing into someone new.

Whether you're navigating motherhood, recovering from burnout, exploring gender, or just learning to love the skin you’re in, this space is for you.

Each session is a collaborative process. You are not just another subject in front of the lens, but a co-maker in the whole. The photographer is not a director in the traditional sense, but a guide who allows space for spontaneity and depth, and who maintains a safe space in which you are free to move, pause and simply breathe. You remain in control and always have a say in your experience. There is no pressure to perform or do it "right. What matters is that you feel seen - really seen.

As one participant shared:

"I generally have a negative self-image. Often I think I'm only valuable when I'm perfect. During the session, I was afraid I wouldn't be special enough. But when I saw the images, I was moved. I saw that vulnerability can also be powerful and beautiful. For the first time I felt pride, as if I had given myself a piece of love. Since then I look at myself with more mildness."

The experience begins in silence. Sometimes with conversation, sometimes without words. From there, a rhythm develops. The experience is an interplay between silence and expression; between the closeness of being seen and the freedom of letting go.

“Before the session, people often arrive with nerves and self-doubt. But something begins to shift in the quiet of the studio. Through honest connection and the creative act itself, a kind of unfolding happens. It is slow, but real. The camera becomes a mirror, and what it reflects back at you is the authentic beauty of your self.” (Danny Van der Elst)

Afterwards, people often speak of lightness and seeing themselves with new eyes. The photographs are not just images; they are reminders of who you are beneath the noise and what it feels like to be whole.

UNFOLD is rooted in the belief that vulnerability is a strength, not a flaw.

That softness is powerful.

That beauty has nothing to do with standards and everything to do with truth. What you want to hide is often your greatest beauty.

This is not about vanity. It’s about visibility: the kind that starts from within. The kind that guides you to see yourself with kinder eyes.

It is about letting go of old stories that no longer serve you, and making room for the story that is unfolding now.

You don't have to change. You don't have to prepare.

You are already enough.

UNFOLD is just there to remind you.
